Marty Dema

Marty Dema (they/them) is a composer, sound artist and educator, passionate about breaking down the social and material barriers for people to use creative technologies. Born in the Netherlands, they are now residing on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. With their solo project MXMars they compose and perform electronic neo-folk, combining old practices with new technologies. Through the award-winning community project Melbourne Sound School they have organised and facilitated workshops about experimental sound practices for The Channel- Arts Centre Melbourne, Merri-bek Youth, Maribyrnong youth and others.
